Server Job Description

Servers are responsible for ensuring our guests’ expectations are not only met, but exceeded. It is expected to always be attentive to our guest’s needs as well as making them feel welcome, comfortable, and relaxed like they are the only person in the Fork. Food and beverage knowledge is required to assist guests with their choices and to make suggestions and pairings. Communication and teamwork is necessary as we all work together.

General Responsibilities

  • Smile and help to exceed guests’ expectations always
  • Greet guests, explain specials and soups, and take drink orders
  • Communicate any guest’s special needs/allergies to the kitchen staff
  • Suggest appetizers and specialties
  • Demonstrate knowledge of food and beverages
  • Stay updated on substitutions and up-charges (no surprises)
  • Carry trays to your tables as well as your teammates (if needed)
  • Serve tables with efficiency and a friendly attitude
  • Always check identification cards to ensure that guests are of legal drinking age, we card anyone that looks 30 or less
  • Return to the table and do a food quality food check after food is served and offer your assistance with anything the guest may need
  • Clear empty dishes, replenish utensils, refill drinks, offer another round of drinks or dessert and coffee
  • Issue receipts, accept payments, make change (you will carry your own bank), follow all cash handling procedures, thank our guest for coming in to visit us
  • Work as a team player and use professional communication
  • Perform basic cleaning and stock necessary inventory
  • Adhere to uniform/dress code and proper daily hygiene

Rate of Pay

$2.33 per hour plus tips (% of sales are tipped out to Bartenders, Server Assistants, and Bar Back)
